Terms of Service
Last updated: 19 October 2026
The short version
- Your slides stay yours. We only store and show them so SlideBySide can do its job.
- Don't upload anything illegal or that you have no right to share, and don't abuse the service.
- SlideBySide is free and provided as it is, so keep your own copy of anything important.
- You can delete your decks or your account whenever you like.
These terms apply when you use slidebyside.com (“SlideBySide”, “the service”), as a guest or with an account. By using it you agree to them. How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy.
1. The service
SlideBySide lets you upload or import slide decks and present them together with other people. It is currently free of charge. If we ever introduce paid features, we'll say so clearly in advance. Nothing you already use will start costing money without your agreement.
2. Guests and accounts
- You can use SlideBySide without an account. As a guest, your identity is remembered by your browser, so if you clear its data you lose access to your guest decks.
- With an account you can reach your decks from any device. Keep your password to yourself; you're responsible for what happens under your account.
- Your username is visible to other people in a live session. Don't pick one that impersonates someone or is offensive.
- If you're under 16, please ask a parent or guardian before creating an account.
3. Your content
- You keep all rights to the slides you upload and the drawings you make.
- You allow us to store your content, convert it (for example PowerPoint to PDF), make preview images of it, and show it to the people your sharing settings allow. We use this permission only to run SlideBySide, and it ends when you delete the content.
- Only upload content you have the right to share. You're responsible for your decks and for who you share them with. Remember that a public deck can be opened by anyone who has its link.
- When you draw on someone else's deck, the deck belongs to its owner. If they delete it, your drawings go with it.
4. What's not allowed
Please don't use SlideBySide to:
- upload or share content that is illegal, infringes others' rights (such as copyright or privacy), or sexually exploits minors;
- harass, threaten or deceive people, or send unwanted invitations (spam);
- spread malware or phishing;
- get around limits or access controls, test our security without our permission, or try to reach other people's accounts or decks;
- overload the service, for example with automated uploads or requests.
5. Fair use limits
To keep SlideBySide running well for everyone, there are limits on file size, on how many decks and versions you can keep, and on how often some actions can be repeated. When a deck reaches its version limit, uploading a new version removes the oldest one. The app tells you when you reach a limit. We may adjust the limits over time.
6. Abuse and removal
- When we detect abuse or a breach of these terms, we may restrict access to SlideBySide, temporarily or permanently, and remove the decks or accounts involved.
- If your access has been restricted and you think it's a mistake, write to support@slidebyside.com.
- We remove content when we're legally required to, or when we're notified of clearly illegal content. To report a deck, send its link to support@slidebyside.com.
7. Availability
We work to keep SlideBySide available and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free, and we sometimes take it down for maintenance. SlideBySide doesn't keep your original presentation files, so keep your own copies.
We may change, add or remove features. If we ever shut SlideBySide down, we'll announce it on the site in advance and give you time to download your decks.
8. Ending your use
You can stop using SlideBySide at any time and delete your decks or your account yourself (see deleting your data). We may close accounts or delete content that breaks these terms, as described in section 6.
9. Liability
SlideBySide is provided free of charge and “as is”. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damage or for lost data or content, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the service (currently nothing). Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, or any rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as SlideBySide changes. We'll update the date at the top and point out significant changes on the site before they take effect. If you keep using SlideBySide after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
